Boulder Canyon

This motorcycle ride through Boulder Canyon begins at 6,200 feet in elevation at Nederland, peaks at 8,670 feet in elevation and then descends back down to 5,400 feet elevation as it enters Boulder.

This ride is a blast early in the season and a lot of fun for cruising down Boulder Canyon. It begins at Highway 93 and Coal Creek Canyon Rd and runs up Coal Creek Canyon. The inlet to Coal Creek Canyon is quick and the curves clean and predictable. The road follows the creek as it snakes its way through Coal Creek Canyon and then begins to climb through the mountain ranges. As this happens, you'll find many 10mph switchbacks. The ride ends with a smooth exit back to Highway 72. From there, it's a quick jaunt through Nederland to Boulder Canyon Road.

Once on Boulder Canyon Road, the speed increases a bit and the curves follow. The roadway is clear and we only encountered a bit of traffic. The curves are predictable, well marked, and we are able to jet along at legal speeds through all corners. The road follows the river and offers beautiful scenery coupled with rocky outcroppings from the canyon walls.
