Kiowa National Grasslands New Mexico Ride
This ride takes you from Albuquerque, NM up to Wagon Mound, then east toward the Kiowa National Grasslands. You take SR 39 north through the grasslands and then connect to US 56 / US 412. From there, you head west to Springer and then jump back on the interstate and head home.
The rim of the Canadian River Canyon, also called Mills Canyon, is six miles west of Mills. About 15 miles of the red-rock, well-vegetated canyon are in the National Grassland. The canyon is seven hundred feet deep and more than one mile wide from rim to rim. A primitive campground is on the rim.
