Olympic National Park
A ride out to Olympic National Park gave us a spectacular view of a one of a kind ecosystem encompassing environments ranging from rain forests to snow-topped mountain peaks. The best part about this area is that if you head deep into the interior of the park, where it's possible to ski along Hurricane Ridge in the winter, or camp in an old growth temperate rainforest in the summer. We did the 3-mile Hurricane Hill trail and the views were spectacular - you can see Canada. We also saw many Olympic marmots! The trail is paved all the way, crowded with people and pretty steep. There are some unpaved trails that lead off of it - one leads to a river, we were told. We walked by patches of snow (in August) and saw a family of grouse too.
