Pagosa Springs, Mesa Verde, Great Sand Dunes SW Colorado
Great ride from Denver to Pagosa Springs, Mesa Verde and the Great Sand Dunes. We broke the ride up into a few days and made Pagosa Springs our base camp.
The first day we rode from Denver to Pagosa Springs. There was quite a bit of traffic as we went over Labor Day weekend. We set up camp in Pagosa Springs and decided to go to the hot springs. We went to bed early that night because we were planning on riding to Mesa Verde the next day.
The ride to Mesa Verde was pretty nice. A lot of good scenery and the roads were much less busy than the day before. We got to Mesa Verde and rode around there for a while. Get there early if you want to get any of the good tours of the cliff dwellings. After spending the day there, we rode back to Pagosa Springs and had some drinks and went to bed.
The next day we packed up and started our journey home. Before heading back to Denver, we wanted to make a stop at the Great Sand Dunes and see it. The dunes themselves were awesome. We didn't get to spend too much time there because we'd already done a lot of riding and still had a few hundred miles more to go that day.
All in all it was a great trip and we got to see a lot of cool things. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to see Southwest Colorado.
