On July 2, 1947 something crashed in the desert north east of Roswell, New Mexico. But did you know that there are three sites identified on the maps of New Mexico as impacts or debris sites. The Roswell site, the Corona site and the Arabela site. What ever your thoughts on what happened there might be, it comes as a good excuse for a ride. There are a couple of roads I need to explore and they just happen to circle the crash sites. This is an extremely long ride, over 450 miles and 10+ hours in the saddle.

Route: Leave Albuquerque 8 am head south on I40 to San Antonio, turn east on US380 to Capitan New Mexico. In Capitan we will turn north onto NM 246. This road goes to Roswell on the north side of the Capitan Moutains. We will probably grab food in Roswell, and then nead north on US 285 to NM 227. Turn west towards Corona. NM 42 to Willard. From Willard to Estancia. Estancia to south 14, then on into Albuquerque. I have no idea what time we will make it back. The 10+ hours is at posted speeds, but lunch and gas will set us back an hour. Gas stops, Socorro (70 miles), Capitan (100 miles), Roswell (85 miles), Corona (103 miles), Albuquerque (103 miles).
