Olympia Sports 711 Gel Reflector Gloves
These are great gloves for riding when it’s 70+ degrees Fahrenheit outside. They are well ventilated so your hands stay comfortable on even the hottest rides. These gloves are also well padded and tight fitting so it’s much easier to pick things up or strap your helmet on while wearing these gloves.
The 711 Gel Reflector gloves don’t have any solid hand protection, but there is carbon fiber reinforcing the fingers and thumb. These gloves are a little short so they can’t cover your jacket sleeves to keep the elements out. However, if you’re riding in the heat then you probably want some air flow to make it up your sleeves. One other thing that can be a little difficult is finding the right size for your fingers. My gloves are just ever so slightly too short in the fingers so it feels a little tight at my finger tips.
One thing I noticed on a recent ride with these gloves is that if I’m riding at highway speeds my jacket sleeves will get pulled back and since the gloves basically end at your wrist bone, some skin on your arm gets exposed and can result in some wicked sunburn if you’re riding all day like I was. I ended up putting some sunscreen on that exposed area the next day to prevent the burn from getting any worse.
If you plan on riding in any rain or cool/cold weather I would recommend having a second pair of heavier gloves with you. I always keep two pair of gloves in my tank bag. These and some waterproof/cold weather gloves. With that combo I’m prepared for any weather conditions that get thrown at me.
As far as inexpensive summer riding gloves go, the Olympia Sports 711 Gel Reflector gloves are a great choice.
