SR 80 through New Mexico and Arizona
A lonely, desolate road through some of the most interesting desertscape. One of those places where the only sign of human intrusion into this wilderness is the road itself. This stretch actually is about 80 miles long between I-10 and Douglas, Arizona, with only one three-building settlement (Rodeo, New Mexico) in its entire length.
About 20 miles south of the Interstate, you'll crest the rim of a low valley and will see the part of the Dos Cabezas Mountains called "Cochise Head".
Traffic is a rare and beautiful thing on this road, so make sure you have gas, water, and sunblock.
